Crowdfunding Risk Disclosure

1. Crowdfunding carries risk
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as buying a finished product from a store. Campaigns may be delayed, may change their scope or rewards, may run out of funds, or may fail to deliver at all — even after reaching their funding goal. Estimated ship dates are estimates, not promises. You should be comfortable with the possibility that you may not receive a reward, or may receive it late or different from what was described. BackerCove does not guarantee any campaign's success, delivery, quality, or fulfillment.
2. Pledges happen on external platforms
BackerCove is a discovery, promotion, and community platform. It is not a payment processor for pledges and never collects or holds your pledge. Every pledge, reward purchase, payment, and refund happens on the campaign's own external platform (such as Kickstarter or Indiegogo) and is governed by that platform's terms and the creator's terms. Any dispute about a pledge or reward is between you, the creator, and that external platform.
3. What we do — and what we do not do
We review listings for basic quality and policy compliance and apply curation and badges based on our own criteria. We do not verify the financial viability of a campaign, audit a creator's finances or ability to deliver, or independently confirm every claim a creator makes. Listing, featuring, badges, and Community Boost promotion are not endorsements and are not assurances that a campaign is legitimate, solvent, or likely to succeed. Creators remain solely responsible for their claims and for fulfilling their campaigns.
4. Not investment, financial, or legal advice
Backing a project is generally a pledge toward a product or cause, not an investment, and it typically does not give you equity, a security, a loan repayment, interest, or any financial return. Nothing on BackerCove — including listings, rankings, consultations, or Boost packages — is investment, financial, tax, or legal advice, and none of it should be relied on as such. If you need advice, consult a qualified professional.
5. Your decision, your responsibility
Any decision to back, pledge to, or purchase from a campaign is yours alone, made on the external platform and at your own risk. Please do your own research before pledging. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BackerCove is not liable for any loss arising from a campaign you choose to back. See our Terms of Service for more.
