Methodology
How we choose projects
What it takes for a campaign to appear on BackerCove, what each badge means, and where the numbers come from.
How campaigns get listed
Creators submit
A creator submits their campaign with its platform link, category, dates, and funding details.
We review
Our team checks the submission and either approves it or requests specific changes. Listing is free; a review decision cannot be bought.
We also import
To keep the directory useful while it grows, we add live campaigns from supported platforms that we want members to be able to find and follow.
What each badge means
A badge describes something specific about a campaign or how it is displayed. Nothing more.
- Featured
- Shown in the homepage showcase. Our team assigns and removes this badge by hand. While the directory is young, initial picks lean on funding traction across listed campaigns, and we adjust them over time.
- Staff Pick
- A campaign our team chose to surface beyond the homepage. Initial picks also start from funding figures, then get reviewed by hand.
- Verified
- The listing links to the live campaign page on its platform, and the funding figures shown here were taken from that page. Verified does not mean we vouch for delivery, product quality, or safety.
- Repeat Creator
- The creator has run more than one crowdfunding campaign.
- Live / Ending Soon
- Taken directly from the campaign's own launch and end dates on its platform.
Paid promotion is separate
Creators can pay for promotion through Community Boost. Boost placements are advertising, and they are labeled as promotion wherever they appear. Buying promotion does not change a review decision and does not add any of the badges above.
Where the data comes from
Funding figures, dates, and categories come from the campaign's page on its own platform, captured when we list the campaign or refresh its data. Figures can lag the live campaign between refreshes, so the campaign page on its platform is always the source of record.
Pledges happen on that platform, not on BackerCove. If you spot a listing that looks wrong, tell us and we will check it.
